World's Longest Post

Well, I have to say thanks to the guy in my life for the quality of these photos. He lent me a photo kit including lights and a nylon light diffuser box, and a black velvet background. They are far and away better than my first set of photos, which were done on a fleece blanket my cats like to lay on. I almost set the whole thing on fire when one of the lights burned out with a giant "pop" and began to smoke. Anyhow, I think these photos are pretty nice. Thanks Tim!!

This urchin mug above and blue Tiki mug below are both from Three Dots and a Dash, Chicago Illinois. I have not been there yet, and I have sent friends on a mission to fetch these mugs, but I hear great things about the place. It's on my list, and soon! Tiki Farm, 2013.  The urchin above is really a beautiful, desirable mug. Here is their drink menu:

Also Three Dots and a Dash, this mug used to contain a drink called Bunny's Banana daiquiri and from their menu, they may be using a different mug now. Still a very attractive and unusual mug. 

Tiki Farm, "Kukona" 2012, made in Mexico, unknown for what restaurant.

Designed by Doug Horne, made by Tiki Farm, 2005. I think a man paints the embellishments on top of the glaze and sells these at the International Tiki Marketplace. I found it on Ooga Mooga! and it is called "Goon Green." Apparently rare, on eBay.

Partiki, by Tiki Farm, 2011.  Very common. Apparently this was one of Holden at Tiki Farm's first designs. 

Vintage. from "Leilani, Luau, Fresno California." See below. Really common, manufactured by the Otagiri Mercantile Company in Japan. Moai style.

Harvey's Sneaky Tiki, Lake Tahoe Vintage

This is a set of four (see below) and the set is called Rigor Morty and the Dirt Nappers. It was made in 2010 by Tiki Farm for Fender Guitars. I did not get the box that went with it, that looked like a stage. I just got the 4 mugs.  Really rare. 

"Mana-mana" by Atomic Tony Tiki for Tiki Farm.  2011. Open edition.

Tiki Farm, this is a big bowl you put booze in. Has a mermaid on it. Designed by Brad Parker, it's called "Makalani Mermaid Bowl." 2010, apparently it is rare. 

Munktiki, Oregon 2010.  Limited edition numbered 18/25. You hardly see this one around.

Tiki Farm 2008, "Bombora Blast" Designed by the Pizz for Frankie's Tiki Room, Las Vegas, Nevada.  They don't sell these with a brown Tiki guy on it anymore, so this is considered rare and desirable. You can get a drink by the same name, it's pretty good, and by good, I mean it gets you drunk drunk drunk.

Munktiki, stacker sized, numbered 89/150. I like the look on his face.

Munktiki "Googie Googzilla" from 2006, numbered 66/100.  Fairly rare.

Munktiki, says 704 underneath, and Munktiki is written backwards.  "Coconut Monkey."  They make a lot of these with different facial expressions. Nicely sized and detailed. 

"Tiki Caliente 3, Palm Springs" Designed by Doug Horne, Manufactured by Tiki Farm 2011.  Limited edition, not sure how many.  Back of mug is pictured below.

"Bearded Clam" Tiki Farm 2008.  Sold at Frankie's Tiki room in Las Vegas Nevada.  On a recent visit, I was told someone broke the mold for this mug, so maybe there won't be any more of these.  I like how this mug is pretty suggestive in a really lewd and tacky way.  The drink by the same name is awesome.  Back of the mug is below.

This photo and the two below are pictures of a piece of Disneyana I picked up after a trip to the Enchanted Tiki Room.  It is  a small box which opens up, and these are the front, back, and side view.  Designed by Robert Olszewski, who does a lot of the designs for the Disneyland collectible market. This is supposedly sold out. I am glad I have this piece and it has a nice spot in my tiki cabinet, but the person who convinced me to buy it is no longer in my life and is a very bad person, so I have negative feelings about it too. 

Tiki Farm, designed by Flounder, 2013.  I think Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago uses these with their name on it. It's got a really rough, sandy texture.

Tiki Farm, 2001. Appears to be some sort of tiki eating small children. I think it is called "Happy Cannibal."  What cannibal wouldn't be happy if he was eating up all the noisy kids?

Labeled "Johnnie Velour, 2014.  Handmade, purchased at the International Tiki Marketplace at Don The Beachcomber's in Huntington Beach, CA.  Some sort of Tiki Bob knock off. I like the glaze.

"Deville's Pad" Perth Australia.  Manufactured by Tiki Farm 2009, Designed by Derek Yaniger.  Even though Tiki Farm is in San Clemente CA, you cannot get one of these anywhere but Deville's in Perth. Don't ask me how I got mine, or how much I paid.  You don't want to know.  (Very few come up for sale, and the ones I have seen are outrageously priced on eBay.)

Munktiki "Yokai" 99/100, unknown year.  Yoke are a class of supernatural monsters in Japanese folklore.

Munktiki, 2013, 83/100 "Little Liklik" by Paul Nielsen. It's a hug mug.  The rear view is below, just to show how detailed it is.

"The Green Gasser" from Frankie's Tiki Room in Las Vegas Nevada.  I love this mug.  They don't make it anymore.  Designed by Sophia Brewer for Tiki Farm. I love this one. 

Munktiki for the Alibi Room, 2013, 49/100.  This bar is in Portland Oregon and is next on my list to visit.  The view of the rear is below. 

Munktiki Stacker, 2011.  These are sold separately (top and bottom) and are numbered.  33/150 and 62/100 respectively.

This is a "Ming" mug.  No markings. These are common and this one is pretty old.  Possibly served with a drink at a Chinese food restaurant.

Trader Vic's, Chicago, 2009 by Tiki Farm.

No label whatsoever.  Someone wrote on it in silver pen, I think it says "Warren."  Warren, wherever you are, I am keeping  your tiki mug very safe. 

A vintage mug, very nice condition.  The bottom is labeled "Orchids of Hawaii, Japan, R-2".  No year indicated.  I got this in a lot of vintage mugs. 

Munktiki, Mini Fugu fish, which came out of a Tiki Mug vending machine in the Alibi Room.  2011, numbered 40/150. 

This is a set made by Munktiki, 2010, Hukilau in 2011. Designed by Kevin Kidney who does a lot of mid century modern stuff, and also some Disney things. This is a set called Tiki for Two. The interior of the black one is green, and the interior of the cream one is orange. Edition of 150. 

Munktiki "Tiki Bob" Stacker

"TEKO TEKO MANALA" Designed by Crazy Al Evans, manufactured by Mahalo Tiki AND Tiki Farm, 2014. I think a limited edition, and Crazy Al himself signed this at the International Tiki Marketplace on 10/11/14. Its a really big heavy mug. 

"Krampus" Super limited edition by Munktiki, 2014. Funny story about this mug. Munktiki was offering limited editions of Krampus mugs, in a slightly different design. They sold out and the website crashed while I was in the process of purchasing one. I have a thing about Krampus, who is an evil Christmas elf. Apparently SHAG has a Krampus fetish too, and I have a piece of his artwork with Krampus driving two screaming kids in a Volkswagen van. Ok, that was a tangent. So anyways, late in 2014 Munktiki was selling more Krampus mugs and on a whim I tried to buy one, and this is what I got. It's huge. I should probably sell it, there are a lot of people who want it. 

I bought this Shriner fez at a vintage sale. It came with a carrying case and a clear plastic rain cover. It has someone's name embroidered inside. As creepy as it is to think that it is another person's fez, it is so full of glittery charms and embellishments that it is kind of amazing to me that some older man ever wore this out of the house. I don't know how Shriner's and tiki became linked.  I do know SHAG did some artwork focused on Shriners, maybe that is the link. 

I picked this little guy up at a vintage sale. I just thought there needed to be a Shriner to guard all the other goodies in the cabinet. This is handmade and handprinted, no markings except for what you see. I get the idea that some Shriner's wife got creative and handprinted this for a Shriner convention. 

This is a giant monkey wearing a fez cookie jar. It was manufactured by Tiki Farm and designed by Crazy Al for his band APE. I guess it was a promotional item. 

Manufactured by Tiki Farm, 2004, for APE the band, at Tikimania. Designed by Crazy Al. The back reads "SF CALIF EXOTIC MUSIC LIVE TIKI CARVER" which I guess pretty much sums up Crazy Al.

This is a decanter and it comes with matching cups.  Tiki Farm, 2012, Limited edition of 500, designed by Claudette Barjoud who designs under the name Miss Fluff. She makes adorable stuff. I am glad she is into tiki.

"Malekula" from Frankie's Tiki Room, 2005-ish, by Tiki Farm. Below is the back side. This might have been a "second" because the glaze is really funky. It's not the most attractive mug but it is kind of really cool in a weird ugly way. 

"Mahinui" from Tiki Farm, 2009. This was a promotional item for a Rainforest Wedding place in Hawaii.
While blogging these mugs, I really had to do some research because I forgot a lot of what I knew about them. So I am constantly surprised at how many people want to get their hands on some of these mugs and how quickly they sell on eBay.
